Growth and goals

Our strategic goal is to help businesses in our key markets achieve success by delivering innovative, industry-critical data, analytics, information and tools. We invest in understanding our customers so we can best meet their needs, and we’re committed to growing our business sustainably within scalable, strong models.

  • Donating & Fundraising

Reed Business Information (RBI) is dedicated to playing a positive role in our local and global communities, primarily through employee involvement. Our central focus is education for disadvantaged young people and community initiatives of importance to local employees.

Through our RBI Cares initiative we invest in the communities around us, supporting charities including schools and hospitals in the UK, USA, Singapore, Hong Kong and many more.

Our products and services also leverage their specialised reach and influence for good causes. FlightGlobal works with Médecins Sans Frontières providing free subscriptions to its Fleets Analyzer database. Estates Gazette supports LandAid, helping provide disadvantaged young people in the UK with access to buildings, skills and opportunities to achieve their potential.

We support SOS Children’s Villages, the chosen charity of RELX Group, our parent company. We are raising money for a project to improve the lives of young girls working in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast. These girls often serve as baggage carriers and work 13 hour days for as little as $1. Such employment attracts children from the most vulnerable families and increases the chances of their being exploited for prostitution, child-trafficking and street violence. The project will help girls enter or return to the education system, empowering their families and raising awareness in local communities.

We also support our staff who are fundraising for a charity of their choice and we offer a Give As You Earn matching scheme in the UK.

  • Anti-trafficking

RBI is part of the RELX global task force to combat human trafficking. Our Accuity Solutions are the global standard for payment efficiency, compliant transactions, bank counterparty insight and anti-money laundering screening.

Accuity aligns itself with organisations making a real and positive difference to stop human trafficking, and our staff volunteer at Traffick-Free, the Salvation Army, Teen Living Program and Shelter.

Accuity has created care packages for victims and survivors of human trafficking, as well as raising and donating funds to human-trafficking not-for-profits.

  • Volunteering in our communities

We want RBI People  to support the charities that matter the most to them, that’s why we give everyone two days off each year, with full pay, to volunteer.

From sharing their expertise – providing charities will skills such as web development and content creation that they would struggle to fund from their own budgets – to Team Challenge Days where RBI People work on renovation or maintenance projects for a wide range of charities, RBI People take time out of the working week to make a positive impact on our local communities.

Globally, we work with a wide range of charities such as Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in the UK, Shelter Inc in the USA and Guide Dogs Association in Singapore, to name just a few..

  • Environmental sustainability

Our global employee-led Green Teams work to reduce our carbon footprint with suppliers, customers and employees. We’re reducing the waste we send to landfill and cutting our paper use. We also comply with environmental building standards and encourage programmes such as cycling to work and car sharing.

  • Education

Through the RBI Cares initiative, we help educate disadvantaged young people, supporting scholarships and organisations for young people in need worldwide. Each year we offer students and pupils the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.

Staff work with schools on projects aimed to raise the achievements and aspirations of young people, develop their motivation and skills for the world of work and increase their ability to choose and achieve positive career, life and learning goals.

  • Business ethics

We are signatories of the UN Global Compact and strive to advance its ten principles in support of human rights, fair labour, the environment and anti-bribery. We have also pledged support to the UN CEO Water Mandate which aims to promote sustainable, responsible use of water among leading businesses.

We recognise diversity as an asset in business, and we’re proud to have an inclusive culture where every employee is treated with respect.
