Raised on a mixed family farm in Yorkshire, Suzie has covered the business aspects of livestock and arable production for Farmers Weekly for many years.  As well as knowing what’s happening in the markets, she has a keen interest in and awareness of the factors influencing the decisions which farmers and their managers are making every day.

Sarah Alderton

Sarah joined Farmers Weekly in 2008, having previously worked for the National Farmers Union. She studied Animal Science, specialising in animal behaviour and welfare, and specialises in all aspects of livestock production including animal health and welfare, nutrition, grassland management and breeding & fertility.

Richard Allison

Crops Editor


Richard has worked in the farming sector all his life, having been brought up on a family farm in North Yorkshire. He has spent the past 10 years working for Farmers Weekly, specialising in arable farming and previously had a career in agricultural research with ADAS and the University of Nottingham.

Philip Clarke

Poultry World Editor


Philip has worked in agriculture since leaving university with an Agricultural Economics degree in 1984, and has been working for RBI agricultural titles since 1988. He has worked across the Farmers Weekly portfolio and has been Poultry World Editor since 2010, covering key news, business and technical areas of the poultry sector.

Johann Tasker

Chief reporter, Farmers Weekly


Johann worked on farms and studied for a degree in agriculture before joining Farmers Weekly in 1997. His main areas of expertise include agri-politics, the rural environment – and how farming can adapt to meet rising demand for food in the 21st century.

Geert Hekkert

Geert has worked for Reed Business NL since 1994 on weekly publication Boerderij. He started as mechanization and arable editor and later became chief of the editorial staff.

He is currently chief editor responsible for Boerderij.

He ran the family farming business with his father until 2007.

Jan Vullings

Editor - Boerderij


Jan Vullings joined Reed Business NL in 1985 working on their agricultural titles as a reporter and was also involved in various agricultural activities including farming levies and welfare issues, swine fever outbreaks and the BSE crisis.

From 2001, he took on the role of news co-ordinator and chief reporter.

From January 1, 2012 he joined Geert Hekkert as part of the editorial leadership of Boerderij. He is responsible for all the sub-brand magazines, online presence and events belonging to his portfolio. From 1 January 2013 he also took on responsibility for the Groenten&Fruit brand.
