Farmers Weekly journalist shortlisted for PPA New Talent award

A Farmers Weekly senior reporter has been shortlisted for a trophy in the prestigious PPA New Talent Awards.

Oli Hill is a finalist in the New Specialist Content Writer of the Year category, earning him a place at the awards ceremony at the Ministry of Sound in London on 16th March.

Karl Schneider, Editor of Farmers Weekly, said he was not surprised that Oli’s talents were getting wider recognition. “Oli has been with Farmers Weekly for less than two years, yet in that time he has had an impact out of all proportion to his level of experience,” he said. “Arriving with almost no knowledge of crop farming, he very quickly proved able to tackle complex, technical subjects with an engaging writing style”.

This isn’t Hill’s first taste of glory in his relatively short time on Farmers Weekly. Last year he won the Arable Photography Award from the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists.
