Reed Business Information took the Best Health and Wellbeing Initiative award at the CIPD People Management Awards held on 27 September in London.
The awards recognise major contributions made by human resources and learning and development professionals to their organisations.
The judging process consisted of two parts; an online filter stage, followed by a challenging panel judging stage.
RBI’s Living Well initiative was competing against six other shortlisted businesses in the same category, including the Department for Work and Pensions, Arup Group and Network Rail.
The judges called RBI’s approach “holistic” and “resourceful” and commented on the fact its Living Well initiative was also linked to its business strategy and key competencies framework. They noted RBI’s ‘five pillar’ approach to supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing and praised how RBI took initiatives to 50 offices across six continents.
They also admired the creation of a cross-functional steering group involving HR, OH, corporate communications, marketing, facilities, events and IT. This integrated approach saw the company achieve stunning results including 82 per cent of staff motivated to make healthy changes; sickness absence down 40 per cent; global staff turnover down from 14 to 12 per cent; and satisfaction up 10 per cent.
